Attleborough Carnival and Truck Pull

On Saturday 18th June and Sunday 19th the Truckers made their impact on Attleborough Carnival. On the Saturday, David Yallop, Tim Thompson, and David Land with the help of others erected our stand for carnival day. By that evening we were all ready for the "Party in the Park".

Having regard for security, personnel stayed overnight. Ivan with his camper van. Tim sleeping in his truck. The work on the day started early and it was gratifying to receive Valerie's egg and bacon rolls for Sunday morning breakfast. For a change, Ivan had "egg on shirt rather than "egg on face".

Sunday was "hot, hot, hot" and the people who crowded our stand were just as much interested in shade as our merchandise. However, Tim took advantage of the situation (as he always does) and made some sales.

The carnival parade got under way with the Carnival Queen in a nicely turned out horse drawn carriage, with many displays that followed on. Our truck pull was most impressive with plenty of tugging from the willing team of East Coast Truckers. NO HELP was derived from the truck's engine. I’m no expert, but I'm told that this must be running to work the power steering. Oh Yeah?

The Scania AMT truck was pulled and our presence at Attleborough was reinforced with a Mercedes tractor unit, courtesy of Curries' Transport and a Renault from Roy Humphries. Well done all.

Ivan's camper provided a source of cold beers but he did have an anxious moment when packing things up. He thought the parachute jumpers were going to land on him.
